World Record Attempt

& St Georges Day 2019

For St Georges Day this year we are going big!  We want to put P&P Scouts into the Guinness Book of Records for the biggest human merit badge.  Put simply, we’re going to mark out a huge Scout emblem on Ashington Recreation Ground and we need 350+ people to stand and smile to the drone overhead to allow us to take the record.  With nearly 700 members in P&P this should be a piece of cake!

We will start the event by forming up at Broadbridge Farm to the south of Ashington, there is plenty of car parking there and we would love families to stay and be part of the record attempt.  Once ready, we will parade with Petworth Town Band, up the High Street, down Church Lane, around the Village Hall (past the saluting base) to the Recreation Ground where we will have a short service followed by the world record attempt.

We hope to be finishing around 4.30pm but as you can imagine, marshalling all those people takes time so please bear with us if we overrun.  Units can be returned to parents to walk back to Broadbridge Farm to collect the car or units may wish to walk back to the farm on-mass and dismiss from there.  Please do not encourage parents to park in Church Lane as there is very little parking.

Young people remain the responsibility of their unit leader for the duration of the event.
