In Summer 2023, more than 40,000 Scouts from all over the world will gather in South Korea for the 25th World Scout Jamboree

Each WSJ Unit consists of 4 Leaders and 36 (Explorer) Scouts. West Sussex Scouts have been allocated 2 Units as part of the UK Contingent.

Petworth & Pulborough District has been given places for 6 Scouts to join them they are:

Luke Witney, Joshua Leech, James Cordy, Joshua Pullen, Grey Vibert and Joseph Plant

They are all hard at their fundraising and have already run a District Swimathon, sold teas and coffees at Wisborough Green Fete, run the BBQ and Pimms Bar at the Billingshurst Show and Luke was sponsored to cycle the length of the South Downs Way (his father has nearly recovered!)

Here are a few words on the journey so far from James:

My experience of the World Scout Jamboree prep has already been AMAZING! I’ve challenged myself in our events so far, like hiking the Downslink for 21 miles overnight, and my confidence has grown as a result. We’ve done lots of different fundraising events too - I swam over 100 lengths in the swimming gala and with Josh, we hosted a quiz night for more than 70 people which was a bit nerve-wracking but ended up being great fun. I’ve made loads of new friends through WSJ, everyone is easy to get along with and we’ve had so much fun. It’s great to be part of it all.
